Ministries & Resources Around the OPC
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church has inter-denominational resources ranging from Diaconal Ministries to Worldwide Outreach.
OPC Disaster Response
Our organization helps churches and mission fields connect with individuals and teams for short-term ministry projects, matching opportunities to the unique gifts of those eager to serve. We also mobilize the church to respond swiftly to disasters and encourage growth through dedicated service.
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church was founded on June 11, 1936, in the aftermath of the fundamentalist-modernist controversy, under the leadership of J. Gresham Machen.
The word orthodox means "straight" or "right thinking." By the term orthodox, we mean that our Church holds to the historic Protestant faith (also called Reformed Theology). We subscribe to the early confessions of the Church (The Apostles Creed and The Nicene Creed) as well as the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We believe they contain the system of doctrine taught in the Scriptures.
We believe that the church is ruled by wise and gifted men equipped by God. They are the elders (or presbyters) of the church and rule according to the commandment of Scripture in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
We are committed to the authority of God’s inspired and infallible Word. We affirm the uniqueness and supernatural character of true Christianity. We are also committed to maintaining our pilgrim identity in a shifting and changing world. The Church is a heavenly colony that lives as aliens and strangers in this world. We seek to serve and minister the love of Christ to the world while sustaining our heavenly identity.
